This project realigns Williamson Road with Old Stadium Road to improve pedestrian and vehicular safety for circulation movements north and south through the campus. This project includes traffic and pedestrian signalization improvements, street lighting, new sidewalks and bike lanes and a transit stop. This realignment will provide controlled pedestrian crossing of Perimeter Road, quicker access from main campus to the Madren Center and the future Alumni Center, and increase traffic efficiency. Opportunity to expand the C2 commuter lot also resulted from the modified road realignment. The project will also provide a safe and direct route from the Facilities Landscape Maintenance Complex to central campus making daily operations more efficient and effective.

This project requires the removal of trees to allow for additional roadway lanes and stormwater detention areas. Tree protection procedures are in place to preserve trees identified to be protected during the construction process. A complete planting plan with 47 new trees is in the design.
