General recycling bins are provided to faculty, staff, and students with on-campus offices upon request and are free of charge.
These bins are normally reserved for custodial use only, but can be requested for a short term clean out.
Please submit bin requests through our online service request form or contact recycling@clemson.edu.
Upon receiving your request, we will submit it to the shred vendor for service on their next scheduled service date which are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
If you have a bin that you would like to have serviced outside of our regular service schedule, please put in a work order, contact recycling@clemson.edu, or contact our Recycling Coordinator.
Document destruction is the process in which documents are destroyed but are not necessarily locked securely from people’s view. There is limited custodial responsibility for these documents. This is acceptable for times of cleaning out your file cabinets of material you do not want the general public accessing, but are not of the importance level required for long term storage or secure shredding.
To make a document destruction request, place a Service Request to schedule a pickup.
Secure, or confidential, shredding is the process in which custody of the records is always maintained. From the time documents are placed in locked containers until they are shredded and baled, they are kept secure. This should be used for documents that have identifying personal information, such as social security numbers or driver’s license numbers.
Secure shredding at Clemson is carried out by a contractor. Secure shredding bin requests can be made as one-time requests, or scheduled on a bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-annual basis. To request secure shredding, please send an email to recycling@clemson.edu.
Upon receiving your request, we will submit it to the shred vendor for service on their next scheduled service date.
