Workforce Development

As part of its mission, Clemson University is “committed to the personal growth of the individual and promotes an environment of good decision making, healthy and ethical lifestyles, and tolerance and respect for others.” To that end, the Workforce Development program is about providing the resources and support necessary for University Facilities staff to maximize their potential through an ongoing process of education and empowerment. This allows our staff the opportunity for personal and professional growth while also providing the University with a highly skilled workforce. We work closely with employees and supervisors to identify educational needs and develop internal training programs and partner with other resources to meet those needs.

Career Progression

Facilities Career Progression is a program that works in conjunction with annual performance evaluations. Its designed to acknowledge professional growth and compensates employees for the value of their newly acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Leadership Development

The Facilities Leadership Development Program (FLDP) is designed for individual contributors looking to grow their roles within Facilities. Employees learn to recognize the needs of the employee and the organization, achieving success for all.

The Facilities Management Development Program (FMDP) is designed for mid-level managers who want to gain a strategic mindset and learn from University Facilities leadership and University partners.

The Trades Lead Trainer (TLT) Program was created to provided experienced trade professionals with the skills to effectively teach others their skills through instruction and hands on experience

Skills Development

Skilled Trade Apprenticeships are designed to help employees progress through all the disciplines of their chosen trade and recognized through the South Carolina Department of Labor.

Internal Interships are designed to allow employees to learn skills in various departments throughout Facilities. Employees will maintain their current positions and responsibilities, while allocating time to gain knowledge and experience in an area of interest.

Licenses, Certifications, & Continuing Education

Licenses, Certifications, & Continuing Education are offered to ensure that our staff maintain certifications and/or licenses required to fulfill their job responsibilities. University Facilities is committed to providing continuing education opportunities and financial support to maintain professional standing with the appropriate governing organizations.
