When Should I Add Compost?

Right before planting any seeds and tilling the soil.

What Time of Year is Best to Compost?

Spring and fall when conditions are best for microbes

Where Can I Pick Up Compost?

Once purchased, you can stop by our Cherry Crossing Composting Facility at 2182 West Queen Street.

How Much Should I Add to a New Garden?

2-6 inches into the top 8-10 inches of soil

How Much Should I Add for Maintenance on Existing Beds?

Less than ¼ inch on top of the soil each year after that (Don’t make mistake of putting too much on!!)

How to Use Compost for Potting Mix?

Mix should be about 1/3 compost with 1/3 sand and 1/3 soil

How Often Should I add Compost to my Garden?

If you are able to, supplementing compost annually is always recommended but every 2 years would also work

Why Should I Choose Compost over Manure?

Compost contains a higher number of concentration of nutrients than manure and is a safer product.
