Right before planting any seeds and tilling the soil.
Spring and fall when conditions are best for microbes
Once purchased, you can stop by our Cherry Crossing Composting Facility at 2182 West Queen Street.
2-6 inches into the top 8-10 inches of soil
Less than ¼ inch on top of the soil each year after that (Don’t make mistake of putting too much on!!)
Mix should be about 1/3 compost with 1/3 sand and 1/3 soil
If you are able to, supplementing compost annually is always recommended but every 2 years would also work
Compost contains a higher number of concentration of nutrients than manure and is a safer product.
