Planning, Design & Construction

Through thoughtful planning, design, and engineering, our team guides the ongoing evolution of the campus environment—enhancing student life, supporting the needs of the campus community, and strengthening the image, experience, and culture of the University. Much of our work supports Clemson’s long-term vision as outlined in the Long-Range Framework Plan (LRFP). We play a key role in developing the plan and ensuring that projects align with its principles and maintain the unique character of our campus.

A comprehensive update to the Long-range Framework was completed in May 2026. This effort ensures that our vision for campus growth and development will deliver upon the goals of our strategic plan, Clemson Elevate, while preserving the distinctive character that defines Clemson University. This updated plan has been established as an interactive digital platform to provide easier access and communication of plan concepts in a format that can be easily adjusted to reflect changes in priorities or new ideas for campus development:

Our office provides professional services in campus planning, space planning and management, architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and historic preservation. Our staff will assist with requests for capital projects including new construction, renovations, or site improvements. Projects typically start with a feasibility or scope study. These studies help fully evaluate and prioritize future campus projects and improvements: Feasibility and Scope Study

We also serve as liaisons between the University and the professional design community through management of the procurement of architectural and engineering services, providing project management for planning and design efforts, and coordinating professional design review. Architecture and engineering firms can view current opportunities on our A/E Selections page. Other resources available to inform A/E firms include our Design Guidelines and Standards for Commissioned Architects and Engineers.
