Williamson Road Parking Garage

This six-story parking structure is strategically placed near existing surface lots, transit hubs, and the center of campus, creating convenient access for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The deck provides vehicular access from New Williamson Road and Perimeter Road and establishes intuitive pedestrian circulation from the adjoining C-2 and E-3 surface lots. A pedestrian bridge enhances accessibility and safety by guiding students, faculty, staff, and visitors over the busy road without interacting with vehicular traffic.

Existing grades are optimized with Levels 1–3 set partially below grade, allowing only Levels 4–6 to be visible from the campus core. This minimizes visual impact and preserves the campus aesthetic. Stepped retaining walls promote airflow and improve appearance by pulling the ground away from the face of the deck. The location also maximizes tree preservation, remaining sensitive to the surrounding environment.

A pedestrian circulation spine north of the deck connects all levels to a central zone that links the pedestrian bridge and adjacent multimodal hubs.
The deck’s materiality reflects campus context with terra cotta at stair and elevator cores and a unifying metal screen system wrapping most of the structure. This approach blends the deck with the campus aesthetic while distinguishing it from academic buildings and emphasizing its unique function.
